I’ve been wanting to try out black and white photos with the flash on my camera to see how they exactly would look under different lighting conditions. I know that not all the pictures here are of my son and not all are black and white. I think over all I am happy with the results that I have so far though. It’s going to be hard to get me to use the flash with color after seeing how these turned out with my little camera.
I didn’t have anything better to take pictures so I just went out to the porch and started to take some photos and this is what I ended up with. Mostly some trees but I have another nice black and white of AJ out of it. I’m really becoming a fan of black and whites with a flash with this camera.
The calla lilies were added later after the bloom had decided to finally open.
I was feeling kind of stuck in the house today until I looked outside and looked at how beautiful the sky looked with it’s gorgeous cloud cover. It brightened my whole day.
Later I went out and shot some pictures of some trees that I had been wanting to get that I pass in the car all the time. The willow and the big tree in the field are ones that I have been wanting to get for a while but keep forgetting to shoot.
The last picture is of my son. I tried shooting him in black and white with the flash. I think I like that better than using the flash with color photos because the flash is so close to the lens it gives the picture more of a natural feel to it.
So I got bored and went to town just shooting random crap in the house. It gave me something to do and I liked the way that the lighters looked standing there all majestic and stuff. It kind of reminds me of something you would see at Stonehenge or on Easter island or someplace magnificent like my computer desk.
I had a chance to play with some self portraits and found out how dirty my lens was. The first two of me was before the lens was cleaned and the third was after. Big difference in clarity. It’s amazing what little finger can do to a camera when they have a chance.
Of course I couldn’t miss a chance to take some photos of my son either.
Oops somebody burned down the building. It was over 100 years old and they will never know what the cause of the blaze was. It makes all the effort that 3 fire volunteer fire departments did seem so worth while.
There were 6 people in the building when the fire started and one of the tenants smelled smoke and got the rest of the occupants to safety so everyone got out ok, but they will never know what the reason was that they lost everything.
As the title says it was just a day with the family blowing bubbles on the deck, it seems to be one of my sons favorite things to do when we let him. These pictures remind me that at one time things were much simpler for me and I take joy in being able to enjoy things like this through my sons eyes.
The latter pictures were just some random photos I took that I wanted to share. I nsmoking isn’t the most cherished thing that people do but it’s a part of me and at least I can make a picture of it seem interesting.
I like to walk to the store with camera in hand most of the time and take random pictures of the flowers and weeds that seem interesting along the way. It seems that there is something that always changes no matter how many times I look at them. It makes for some very meditative walks when I go also.
The first day of school is a curious time when you are young and don’t really know what to expect. Teachers for the first time, new friends to make and a lot of play to be had. It makes for a very nervous time for parents as well. Wondering how the day will go and having to let go of your child to a foreign environment without one of us to be the one that takes him there or picks him up.
The big bus is always an exciting thing and getting to ride it with friends makes it all the better.
